/ My mother left this world early this morning, and it is a darker place because of it. My mom was a mom to the neighbor kids, and any kids around her. I wish I could say that we had a strong mother/son relationship; sadly, that was not the case. Everyone wonders why I shed no tears at her passing; you lost her this morning, I lost her 40 years ago. We didn’t call, talk, or even send smoke signals; and if she realized I was in that hospital room, she would have asked me to leave. I was there to comfort my sister and brother, who lost a mother; I was there to witness a passing. I watched as my first wife died, I watched my father take his final breath, and I left before she took hers. There is no sadness at this passing, and no, I will not mourn her. As cruel as that sounds, I wish I were not so. So rest in peace, Mary Taylor; may God have mercy on you and keep you in his loving arms. Goodbye.
