Chapter Seven: The Bill Comes Due

It was 7 AM, and the early light was finally beginning to crest over the Limestone County treeline. The old man had been wide awake for four hours since the dream meeting with Old Hickory. He believed the encounter was completely real, because this war had just fundamentally shifted.
“This is no longer just a battle about the physical; it’s taken on spiritual ramifications.”
He knew in his heavy, scarred heart that this collision would eventually happen. He understood the brutal, binary nature of conflict: “When you go to war, two things happen: Victory and peace, or escalation and further bloodshed.” He looked down at the unassailable documents spread across his war room desk
. Since his meticulous historical indictment had not yet achieved ultimate victory, he accepted the reality of his path. Escalation it is.
The tyrant’s voice—”You won’t rest either, old man”—still echoed in his head. That may be true, but Jackson had made a fatal miscalculation by invading the old man’s dreams.
“You’ve chosen another battlefield, that one in my head,” the old man realized. “Now I’ve got a powerful edge on this battlefield. I’m still alive, and I know my God is King.”
He stared at the fraudulent text of the treaties and the grueling military logs
. Jackson’s entire legacy was built on a mandate of man—an empire constructed purely for economic greed, the explosive Southern cotton boom, and relentless bloodshed
. He had built his political mountain by stealing 23 million acres and orchestrating the forced marches down the Lebanon Pike
.
But the old man was breathing, fighting in the present, armed with something undeniably stronger. He possessed the exact documentation from his very own government, executing a mandate from God and the true historical record
.
“You’re a footnote in the historical record,” he declared to the lingering ghost. “I’ve got a mandate from God and history. You had the mandate of man, for greed and bloodshed. The bill comes due, Andrew!”
This spiritual clarity perfectly solidified his tactical plan. The war was escalating from the historical trail to the minds of the next generation
. The old man knew that to truly collect on that bill and make the justifications for Jackson’s legacy null and void, he had to bypass the stubborn locals defending their comfortable “Southern lore”
. Armed with his divine mandate and his ironclad evidence, he was ready to take the fight directly to the younger teachers who would finally teach the brutal, unvarnished truth
.
